JIM DAVIDSON has been “of counsel” to the Firm since 1994.
Jim specializes in estate and tax planning. His practice consists of
planning and drafting wills and revocable living trusts and also includes more
complex tax and charitable planning using various kinds of irrevocable trusts and family limited partnerships. In addition, Jim serves as general counsel to a number of
non-profit organizations, including several independent
schools.
Jim attended the University of California at Santa Barbara (B.A., 1963, Political Science, Magna Cum Laude). He earned his law degree from Harvard Law School (J.D. 1968, Cum Laude).
Jim has practiced in Santa Barbara since 1970. Prior to moving to Santa Barbara he practiced for two years in San Francisco.
Jim served eleven years on the Board of Trustees of Crane School, five years as President. For thirteen years he was a Trustee of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art where he was the Founding Chairman of the Planned Giving Committee, and Chairman of the Development and Education Committees.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of
the Music Academy of the West, where he is the Chairman
of the Planned Giving Committee. He speaks frequently on estate planning, charitable giving and private school issues.
